Structural Stress

Structural stress is anything that puts stress on the nerves, muscles, joints and soft tissues of the body. The #1 root cause of structural stress is misalignments of the spine and other joints called subluxations.

What do subluxations do?

They interfere with the body’s ability to communicate nerve energy from the brain to the rest of the body through the nervous system. Subluxations can cause pain, numbness, tingling, burning, and crawling sensations as well as weakness and immobility in your joints and muscles. They can also cause dysfunction and disease in organs and glands.

We can remove subluxations with gentle chiropractic adjustments to the spine and other joints such as the hips, jaws, ribs, wrists, fingers, elbows, shoulders, knees, toes and feet. Any joint can be out of alignment causing nerve interference. We adjust the body using a special technique called Applied Kinesiology

To help balance weak muscles, treat muscle trigger points and pain, we adjust the spine and we also use massage therapy from our wonderful massage therapist Kelly. In addition, we use low-level cold laser therapy, custom made foot orthotics, and a percussor instrument. When your muscles are out of balance by being shut off and weak, or too tight and in spasm, you will have trouble holding the alignment of your spine and other joints.

Patients are always asking us: Why do I keep coming out of alignment? This is a great question! It is true, you can have genetic weaknesses, prior accidents, injuries or surgeries that can cause permanent weakened areas in the spine. But aside from that, most continual subluxations that don’t seem to hold correction are being caused by one or more of the other 7 areas of attack on the body.

What is Applied Kinesiology? This information was taken from the ICAK
website, you can visit them for more information regarding this unique chiropractic technique.
AK uses the Triad of Health.  That is Chemical, Mental and Structural factors that balance the major health categories.

The Triad of Health is interactive and all sides must be evaluated for the underlying cause of a problem.  A health problem on one side of the triad can affect the other sides.  For example, a chemical imbalance can cause mental symptoms.  AK enables the doctor to evaluate the triad’s balance and direct therapy toward the imbalanced side or sides.

AK skills are developed and approved by the International College of Applied Kinesiology Board of Standards.  These skills are refined from many disciplines including Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Medicine, Dentistry, Acupuncture, Biochemistry, Psychology, Homeopathy, and Naturopathy etc.  Members of these professions share knowledge through the publications and conferences of the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK).

A Doctor using AK during an examination will add a new dimension to standard diagnostics.
